Sunday School Valentine Activity

The 40's Ladies Class and the 30's Ladies Class had a Valentine Party last night. Our theme was Everything's Coming Up Hearts. It was a lot of fun. Hope did tons of work, and it all went very smoothly We had a great time getting to know the ladies from both classes.

Here's the dip and dessert table. Everything was GREAT! Hope made the Heart Cookie "Lollipops" and they were beautiful!! Click on the pic to see them up close!

Here is what was at each place setting. There was an I Spy game made by one of the ladies in the 40's class. She did a wonderful job. The heart shaped napkins were a breeze to do, so just ask me if you want me to show you how!!

We set up the tables so that we could all see each other!

A view of the rest of the food and beverages.

First we played Win, Lose or Draw with Valentine themed words. Next we played Hope's version of Jeopardy! with categories and everything!! She is awesome at coming up with the games.

Hope taking a picture of me taking a picture of her.

Here are our ladies as they play the game.

Another shot of the ladies.

A great time was had by all. :)

Bird Watchin'

I've been enjoying listening to and watching the birds around our house. We aren't way out in the country, but we are not right in the city, so we have a lot of birds that frequent our yard. Theron put up a birdfeeder in the back and one hanging on the end of the front porch. I even bought a book with the birds' calls in it recently, so I can learn which birds are what when I hear and see them. Here are a few pictures I've taken this week.
This was a female cardinal in the neighbor's tree.
I think this is a mourning dove...have to check my book. :)

The one on the right must be close to a worm. He isn't dead...just looks like it!

Not sure what this little guy is.

I think these are doves, too. They were on the deck this morning. I took these through the window and screen!

God's Splendor

I was upstairs reorganizing our bedroom and noticed the snow and ice were melting outside. I grabbed my camera and started taking pictures. The view outside one of our windows.

I got obsessed with trying to catch one of the drops as it was "letting go". Here is one right before it dropped.

And there it goes! :)

Later as I was walking past the family room window, I noticed the sunset, so once again, grabbed my camera.

God's hand in nature is so awesome. It just takes my breath away. I read Psalm 147 on Tuesday, and was reminded of it when I saw this on Wednesday. :) God is so good!

The Spencers Come for a Visit

My friend, Rachael, and her kids came over for dinner one night last week. Both of our husbands were out of town, so we decided to have a pizza night. It was fun and I look forward to having them over again soon!! Ryleigh loved our stairs and spent a lot of time trying to get upstairs. She is so cute!

Charlie and Seth enjoyed playing Wii with TJ and Sam.

Seth posing with Sam. Isn't he adorable?

She had been lying on Samantha's big stuffed animals, so her hair was full of static.
Mine was too!!

She kept trying to pick up the monkey and it was way bigger than she is.
Thanks, Rachael for spending the evening with us. We had a great time!!

The Girls Leave for PCC

On Sunday, January 18th, Mary & Chrissy left for PCC. They drove to Alabama, just south of Montgomery on Sunday. They arrived at PCC on Monday morning. They had a good trip. It was hard to see them go, again. It is exciting to see our kids growing up, though. I can't wait to see what God has in store for them as they follow Him!

Happy 50th Birthday Bill

Bill turned 50 last week, so his family gave him a surprise birthday brunch. Lindsey invited our family as well, so we showed up and were waiting for him when he got there. Bill is a great friend to have and a wonderful father and husband to his family. Have a great year, Bill!!
Surprise!!

I think we surprised him.

His birthday bundt cake
Darlene helped him blow out his candles since he was sick and didn't want to get his germs all over the cake.

Lauren and Lindsey had a great buffet set up for us to feast on!

Bill opening his gifts

We played a couple of games. Great job Lauren!

The other side of the room.
And the rest of the crew!

Lauren and Bill. He had to sit with his back to us, so he couldn't
see our guesses during
the game.
