Redskins Here They Come

There is an organization that lets kids and teens with cancer use a sky box at the RedSkins games. Johnny gets a ticket for each person in his family to attend with him...along with the sky box, they get to tailgate with the Hoggettes and meet the players in the locker room after the game including getting autographs and pictures with them. Darlene, being the great mom to TJ that she is, has given her ticket to TJ. They have tried to go before, but Johnny was too sick. They have the opportunity to go this Sunday and are really looking forward to it. So, please pray that Johnny stays well (he is doing GREAT right now), and they will get to go have a blast on Sunday. Bill has promised to get lots of pictures for me and Darlene, so I'll post them on Monday. :) Johnny's immune system is still really low, but should be up by Sunday. This is like their vacation, since they can't really get away for awhile. They debated over going on a Sunday as they will have to miss church, but since it isn't a normal circumstance, decided it was okay. I told Bill he could do a devotion and preach to the boys on the way to the game. :)
Darlene is really sweet for letting her son have his best friend go along with the family and sitting it out at home. She is one awesome lady. She always does things like that...thinking of others first, and won't take no for an answer. When she calls me with updates on Johnny when they are in the hospital, she ALWAYS asks me first how my day is and won't tell me anything until I update her on my girls at college. We had breakfast together today, and as always, Darlene left me feeling so uplifted and closer to God. She told me today of a great devotion she had reading Romans 12 the other day. I'll post it once I write it down, because it was wonderful!! Okay, keep them in your prayers..I'll keep you posted on how it goes for Sunday. Gotta go spend time watching a movie with my hubby.

I am finding more pictures to post from our year. We went to Disney World on our way home from Orlando after attending Shaun and Alicia's wedding in March. Here are a few pics of our day at Mickey's House. We all stayed in a huge suite at Shades of Green. It was great! We missed Mary and Chrissy, as they were getting ready to graduate and couldn't miss that much school. This was before Flat Mary and Flat Chrissy were created, though, so they weren't with us. haha

Another Great Update

Johnny was able to come to church on Sunday...and not only that, but beat Joey, TJ, and 3 other teen guys after church in a basketball game of "HORSE" (I think their version was "HOOPS"). We spent the day with the Bryans and then they were able to come to church again last night. We ended up staying after church until almost 10 p.m. because the guys were all playing basketball. It was wonderful to see them all (Pastor Mike, Joe Hornbrook, TJ, Johnny, & Joey) out there having fun together rough-housing and laughing. We all ate pizza in the gym after their game, and didn't want to end the evening, as it was such a blessing to see Johnny and his brothers from other mothers having such a great time acting goofy and making us all laugh.
Johnny goes back to the clinic tomorrow for treatment, but may be able to be home more this week. Keep the Bryans in your prayers, as this isn't an easy road on any front for any of them. They are such a testimony to God's grace, it is such a blessing to be their friend. They are touching so many lives of other kids in the clinic/hospital with cancer and also their families. The Bryans are truly being God's Hands and Heart for those they meet.

Johnny's Back Home!!

Hi, I talked with Darlene a little while ago...as I've been gone all day with Theron doing Longaberger "craft" fairs in Northern VA and Fredericksburg and Darlene and I weren't able to get hold of each other til this evening...anyway, Johnny was able to come home today!! He will probably be able to go to church tomorrow, too!! It is always his first request on Sundays and Wednesdays to attend the Lord's house. He had to miss the teen activity last night, but should be well enough tomorrow to go to SS and church. He is such a strong young man, he is truly my hero. Thanks for those of you who have emailed or called me, I will continue to update on the blog as things come up. I think he goes back up to northern VA for some treatments on Tuesday.

Johnny

Hey, I just talked to Darlene...Johnny's fever is down and his counts (immune system) are coming up, so that is GREAT! They might get to come home tomorrow. Keep praying!

Johnny Bryan Update

Hi, I talked with Darlene today. Johnny got a fever last night, so he is in the hospital now. He is on antibiotics, and the fever is coming down. I don't think it was real high, but any fever is not good when his immune system is so low. They were hoping to come home tonight, but it looks like he'll be there still. Maybe his system will kick back up and they'll get home this weekend sometime, though. Thanks for your prayers. They appreciate them so much.

Our church always does a Fall Fun Night on Halloween. We usually stay home and give out candy and tracks, but this year decided to go help out. It was such a blast! There were lots of kids who came from the neighborhoods around the church as well as some of the kids from church. It was lots of fun. Theron and I worked in the preschool booth, where the kids could go bowling, play mini golf and play pee wee basketball, along with the Duffields. Of course, kids of all ages played anyway. My legs were so sore yesterday from setting and resetting the pins. A couple of kids even liked to throw the balls while I was still resetting pins!!
